Waterfront opportunities
and restful seclusion
Apalachicola’s vibrant southern heritage is still visible and thriving today. And, spending an afternoon strolling through its quaint shopping district and historic homes quickly reveals a truly unique place. A blend of sophistication and simplicity– the rare treasure of Apalachicola is truly the heart of Florida’s Forgotten Coast offering a nostalgic ambience of harmony and 19th century innocence. Established in 1831, and once the third largest port on of the Gulf of Mexico, today it is growing as a retirement village and offers an airport with a 5000’+ runway capable of jet aircraft.
Continuing east from Apalachicola, Eastpoint is located across the Apalachicola Bay bridge that crosses the Intracoastal Waterway. Eastpoint is a quaint fishing community with seafood docks stretching across almost the entire waterfront. It also serves as the gateway to spectacular St. George Island.
Another ten miles or so down scenic Hwy 98 you’ll find the coastal community of Carrabelle. This quiet fishing village welcomes visitors with its charm and southern hospitality, and is best known on a national basis as the home of the world’s smallest police station, a comical feature on The Today Show, Johnny Carson, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not and others. A haven for ecotourism, popular attractions include the Crooked River Lighthouse, St. James Bay Golf Course and the Carrabelle Riverfront.
